One of the critical aspects of building a Star Trek CCG deck is selecting personnel who can overcome your opponent’s dilemmas and satisfy your mission requirements. This Skills Calculator is a simple Microsoft Excel spreadsheet designed to help you in this process. The Skills Calculator allows you to specify a set of target skill levels and select the personnel you think you might wish to use; the spreadsheet looks up each personnel’s skills, staffing icons, and attribute numbers and adds them to a simple grid. The Skills Calculator also helps you track a few special features like {Holo], [AU], [OS], and [CF] icons, mission specialist and support personnel status, and personnel affiliation(s). You can also filter the personnel list to find personnel matching your needs.
Please note that the Skills Calculator is just what it says: a calculator. It is a simple lookup-and-sum grid. It does not iinclude any automated personnel-selection algorithms. For more advanced functionality, try Steve “Sergei Rachmaninoff” Boyles’ personnel selector.
In order to use the Skills Calculator, you need a recent version of Microsoft Excel. The Calculator was created and is maintained using Excel:mac 2001, and should work well with Excel 2000 for Windows and Excel v.X for Macintosh. It has not been tested with Excel 97 for WIndows or Excel 98 for Macintosh, but should work fine with those products. Please note that the instructions can be found on the first sheet in the workbook.
